With the development of power grids, the research on regional power supply is promoted. It is significant to improve the safety and reliability of power grids by comprehensively considering operation constraints and power supply margins. At the same time, there are many load types that greatly affect the calculation result of power supply capability. Currently, there is no research in depth in this field. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a scientific and accurate calculation software to analyse the regional power supply ability.Firstly, in this paper, the power supply capability and available power supply capability are defined. Based on the repeated power flow and step size dichotomy, an online calculation software considering constraints of safe operation for power supply capability is developed based on Delphi platform. Besides the power flow calculation module is accomplished by BPA as a subfunction. Furthermore, a friendly interface is designed which could be easily and efficiently used for customers.Secondly, the power grid of HZ is used as an example, the total power supply and different voltage grade ones and different area ones are analyzed for different periods of every day, and the results verified the reasonableness of the software. Moreover, the application of this software in regional power system shows that the software has a high practical level and good prospect.Finally, the load cluster is proceeded and the load forecasting model of a linear regression is proposed for each load type. The load processing module has been used in the online calculation software and the influence of different load growth trend on power supply is researched.The results show that it is necessary to research the influence of different load growth on the power supply in order to improve the accuracy of analysis process.
