Strengthened story is usually be used to reduce the lateral displacement of high rising steel frame-concrete core tube structure. But this method can easyly cause the sudden variation of structural stiffness and internal forces. And it will against the stability of structural. According to the reducing vibration control energy consumption concept, the method of using viscous fluid damper to replacing the strengthened story is put forward according to the adverse factors in high rising structure steel frame-concrete core tube structure.Firstly this paper introduced the analysis model of viscous fluid damper, the seismic analysis method of earthquake response spectrum and time history analysis. And then, combined with an engineering example, use ETABS to build the analysis model. Do normal earthquake spectrum analysis and nonlinear time history analysis with the project of three scheme (no damper no strengthening model, strengthening model, viscous fluid damper model). Respectively to structure vibration periods, the frame column internal force, shear force and displacement, floor displacement angle and basal shear force as the goal of control parameters, compared the viscous fluid damper (plan3) with the strengthened story (plan2) to analysis the influence of the ability of structure resisting the earthquake. Finally found that the structure’s seismic performance with the viscous fluid damper is better than the strengthened story both in overall structure and the internal force of the components.
