Study On "spirit Of Place" Of University Campus Landscape Planning And Design

After thousands of year’s cultural antecedents and heritage, colleges and universities inChina has been a base possesses special meaning and educational function. At the same time,"The Spirit of Place"of the campus is also thick and multilevel. For each college ’s history andarea are different, the produce of all aspects of difference is also obvious. Like differentpeople have their personal character and characteristic,colleges need have their own historymemory and connotation,which mainly expresses for unique school form in campus landscapeplanning.Campus landscape planning plays a very important role in the whole campusenvironment,which makes teachers and students can feel the differences among the others. Inanother word,each campus landscape should has its character and soul,so people in it canbuild a strong sense of identity and belonging,which can promote "The Spirit of Place".This isalso the thing we purpose when we building the campus.The paper consists of five parts,which constitute a complete system.The main contentsare as follows:The first section is a general narration for the paper,mainly analyzing themeaning of researching "The Spirit of Place"in this paper and the current situation at homeand abroad.The second section is about the concrete form and composition of the campuslandscape,starting with the universities history evolution,then summarize the tendency ofcampus landscape planning by analyzing the form of dividing it.In the third section I try toanalyzing the connotation and reflection in the campus landscape of "The Spirit of Place"byresearching "The Spirit of Place"in the campus landscape design.In the forth section,I comeup with the implement strategy of the construction in the college landscape planning withsome examples.At last, I get inspiration by analyzing connation of "The Spirit of Place"in thelandscape planning in Shenyang architecture University’s new location.
