Gas spring is a type of spring that, unlike a typical metal spring, uses acompressed inert gas or oil-gas mixture, contained in a cylinder and compressedby a piston, to exert a force and to achieve the piston rod movement using thepressure difference generated in the cylinder. Gas springs are used to support,buffer, brake, height adjustment and angle adjustment, etc. that are found inautomobiles, furniture, medical and aerospace applications and in machines thatare used in industrial manufacturing. With the rapid development of China’sindustry, the demands of high performance of gas springs are increasing. In2010,based on the original industry standards of gas spring, the new nationalstandards GB25751—2010Compression Gas Spring Technical Specificationand GB25750—2010Lockable Gas Spring Technical Specification are officiallypublished. The new standards have specified detailed requirements on the high&low temperature environment fatigue test that are not included in the formerindustry standards.High&low temperature environment fatigue test of gas springs is tosimulate the working conditions in harsh environment. The test method is one ofthe most important indicators of performance. As the original industry standardsdid not have the related technical requirements, there is no test machine for high&low temperature environment fatigue test on the market. So as to the promotionand support the implementation of the new national standards, the detailed studyon high&low temperature environment fatigue test and the research and designof high&low temperature environment fatigue test machine of gas springs arecarried out.
