Throughout the research status of the tube truss at home and abroad, most scholars devote themselves to the study of overall structure or just one or more joints separately. There is little study in the overall structure and joints together. Research method mainly adopts the theoretical analysis combining with finite element analysis. To experimental research method, model experiments for joints or overall structure are generally used, while full-scale experiments are little adopted.The paper consider three of welding plane tube truss as the research object, do full-scale experiments according to its actual concentrated load in the overall structure; Considering the geometrical nonlinearity and material nonlinearity, through the finite element software ABAQUS to do modeling the overall structure and joints; Making finite element analysis results as well as the calculated value of engineering software compare with experimental results, analyze the influence to the ultimate bearing capacity and the displacement of overall structure by rigidity of rotation of joints; through analyzing the relationship between the ultimate bearing capacity and failure modal of joints and that of overall structure, prove the correctness of the finite element analysis and the feasibility of the welding plane tube truss in practical application. and below is the main useful conclusion:●Experimental value of the ultimate bearing capacity are1.82-2times greater than the standard load, and greater than the calculated value of engineering software, and at the same time mid-span deflection of truss meet the requirements of specifications. Those all shows the truss can be used in engineering practice in actual concentrated load.●Analyzing and comparing the calculating value of engineering software, the experimental data and finite element analysis results, three bearing capacity is very close, and the failure modal of joints in finite element analysis is the same as that of experiment, Those all prove the accuracy the results of the finite element analysis.●Trough analyzing the overall truss by finite element software, shows that the chord-diagonal rigidity of rotation has a great influence on mechanical performance of overall truss:when the joint simplified as rigid connection, The distribution of stress of components close to actual condition, but the rigidity of the overall truss is too large; when completely release the rotary stiffness, the ultimate bearing capacity and displacement close to the real station, but stress distribution is different than actual condition.●The results of finite element analysis of joints show that the deformation of joints to some extent has influence on the ultimate bearing capacity of joints.●Out-plane lateral shift caused by initial defects will reduce the ultimate bearing capacity of overall truss to some extent, can’t be ignored.
