Now, Protection and renovation work of the historic towns and villages conduct like a raging fire. Hebei Handan Guangfu ancient city is also in the conservation and renewal. In the light of having a rich heritage of Guangfu ancient city, but there are few real sense as the object of protection of ancient town, This paper attempts from the angle of Architecture to discuss protection and renewal of Guangfu ancient city. Through the analysis of the intrinsic characteristics of the ancient city, at the same time based on lots of research and review for Guangfu ancient city, this paper presents the specific methods of ancient city protection and renewal, protecting of ancient city, at the same time also improving the basic living facilities of city residents.The article is divided into four parts:Part Ⅰ:the first chapter, discusses the research background, significance, content and the definition of related concepts, and puts forward the study methods and research framework;Part Ⅱ:the second chapter, first introduces this article addressed the correlation theories, including the famous historical and cultural towns protection theory, the ancient town of space theory and city image theory, and then analyzes the historical and cultural town of related measures, protection theory and practice, summarizes Guangfu ancient city development history.PartⅢ:including the third and fourth chapter, this is the emphasis of this chapter.Through the basic situation investigation and study, including regional environments historical evolution、social economic、situation Folk customs and value, the third chapter analysis of Guangfu ancient city space layout, the space of street and the intrinsic characteristics of building. Based on the field survey of Guangfu, the fourth chapter evaluates streets and construction of the ancient city, and summes up the current situation and the existing problems;Part IV:the fifth chapter, introduces the principle of protection of ancient town, and makes brief analysis ofGuangfu new town,Then advises update on the situation and problems of streets、Important node、Building、Infrastructure of Guangfu ancient city. Finally summarizes the effects of the ancient city of social factors.
