Vibration suppression is always the focus of engineering researches for its important for the normal work of structure, safety and comfort of operator. Recently, the passive constrained layer damping (PCLD) technology has been widely applied to the vibration reduction of the plates due to the advantages of simple design and implementation, high efficiency and reliability and high robustness. The damping properties and optimize of PCLD plates have been conducted extensively by domestic and foreign scholars. However, up to now, the dynamic characteristics of PCLD plates are almost analyzed by FE method. As well known, FE method adopt element discretization and lower shape function, so it calculation accuracy and efficiency are poor in higher frequency range resulting from the mesh distortion and the more iterations. Moreover, as the structure is changed, FE method should model and mesh again, which is not conducive to the optimization. It is shows that, researches on the vibration and damping characteristics of PCLD laminated plate are of a wide application value and theoretical value, while its research means is still insufficient.Based on the wised-layer theory, two mathematics models of the PCLD plate with simple supported, which are called simple model and complicated model respectively, were established by virtue of the thin plate principle and thin shell principle. Numerical analyses demonstrated that results of the two models are close, and the calculation speed of the simple model is superior to that of the complicated model. Meanwhile, based on the precision integration technology and transfer matrix principle, an accurate and stable semi-analytical was proposed to analyze the dynamic characteristic of a PCLD rectangle plate. On the basis of it, we discussed the influence of the parameters, such as the thickness and treatment placement, on the vibration and damping characteristics through lots of numerical examples. The present model and solution can be conveniently extended to the PCLD plate with other boundaries or the laminated plates treated with active constrained layer damping, which can provides a new ways and means to the vibration reduction and optimization of the plates.
