With the rapid development of social economy and the pace of people’s lives is becoming faster and faster, thus people also require the qualities of the transportation vehicle, and the requirements which are becoming increasingly higher. In order to meet people’s needs, High Speed Railway has come out. In fact, Continuous Welded Rails are largely used in the construction of High Speed Railway. What’s the Continuous Welded Rails? That is, firstly, workers of the Rail Welding Base weld the standard rails (25m or100m each rail) that are placed section by section to the longer rail, about500m in length, and then these longer rails will be transported by the train specially used for carrying the rail to some scenes of rail-laying, before putting them into use, they will be field welded and ground. After the rail’s welding, a circle of the overlap will be formed around the weld. So it needs to be removed by the rough grinding and fine grinding. Therefore, the purpose of fine grinding is to make the rail within±0.5m of the weld has the qualified rail straightness.Based on the process requirement that Fine Grinding Machine grinds the rail and according to the basic requirements of the machine design, this paper has determined all components which make up the whole machine, and its general layout scheme is also offered. Then depending on the fundamental content of machine tool electrical design and the electrical control requirements of Fine Grinding Machine, this paper has specifically designed some circuits by utilizing the traditional Contactor Relay technology, such as the abrasive wheel grinding circuit, the cross beam forward or backward sway circuit, the hydraulic unit circuit, the walking circuit of the machine, the cleaners and cooling pump circuit, the solenoid valve control circuit, the indicator light and lighting circuits. The paper has also selected the machine’s electrical components according to the selection principle of the machine tool electric, besides, the Equipment Component List has been presented.Considering PLC’s many advantages:strong anti-jamming ability, high reliability; flexible application, programming conveniently; easy to install, debug and maintain; functional perfection, strong adaptability:small volume, lower energy consumption and so on. According to the principles and procedures of PLC control system design, this paper utilizes Mitsubishi programming software GX Developer to create a project, and then selects the type of PLC, finally designs the general Ladder Diagram of PLC control system for Fine Grinding Machine, which has been simulated and debugged with the simulation software GX Simulator which insides GX Developer. At last, the result shows that:the PLC program of Fine Grinding Machine meets the electrical control requirements.
