As the operating speed of train is being faster and faster, the aerodynamic characteristics of the train’s surface changes greatly, and this is bound to affect the characteristics of inlet and outlet on train’s surface. Particularly, when the train using the horizontal condensing air tunnel, the aerodynamic characteristics of the inside and outside horizontal condensing air tunnel makes a larger change, leading to a larger reduction of the condensing air volume of the train air-conditioning condenser, and leading the condensation temperature is too high, the air conditioning system can not operate normally, and often even stop operating. Therefore, only to adjust and transform the air-conditioning system according to the actual operation of the high-speed train, in order to better play the characteristics of air-conditioning units, to provide a comfortable travel environment for passengers. The existing high-speed train air conditioning vents designed mostly to avoid the use of horizontal design, in order to circumvent this problem, while the train is running, the air inlet is not always possible in the positive pressure region, so it is need to have a specialized research on the aerodynamic characteristics of the train’s horizontal condensing air tunnel.In this article, the aerodynamic characteristics of the the horizontal condensing air tunnel and the fluid field around the inlet and outlet of the condensing air tunnel are numerically simulated, by means of the CFD software FLUENT, based on the3-D, steady and incompressible Navier-Stokes equation, combined with the k-ε turbulence model. Analyzes the the changing of the pressure field, flow field and eddy current with the changes of train speed, while the horizontal condensing air tunnel under various conditions; and compares the changes in the same speed under various conditions, to grasp the variation. This paper also analyzes the impact of the characteristics of fan’s pressure-flow performance curves on the relationship between the c air volume of condensation and velocity change.And then, a real vehicle testing was being executed. Tests the relationship between vehicle speed and the air volume of condensation while the train is running, and the relationship between condensing air volume and the speed variation of every modified conditions on the condensing tunnel inlet and outlet. It further validates the results of numerical simulation, provides a theoretical basis for how to optimize the horizontal condensing air tunnel, to make up for the lack of research on the horizontal air inlet and exhaust.
