Although lubricating materials and lubricating technology have been updating constantly, mechanical equipments need to work stable in the more rigorous conditions for lasting time. It is also important for improving mechanical efficiency and the traffic safety performances. So the problems haven’t been solved fundamentally, such as reducing the waste of maintenance, repairing or suspending work, saving energy and reducing materials losses. The aim of lubrication for wheel/rail is to reduce the abrasion of the materials. It could also lower the internal snear stress of the wheel/rail. And this helps to reduce the fatigue damage to the surface contact of the wheel/rail materials and the derailment coefficients. Lubricating methods are good for the safety operation of railway. Thus, we should study the lubrication system from the two aspects, scientific and efficiency.Use MMS-2A simulated abrasion tester to observe the friction and wear behaviors of wheel/rail system under different lubricants and study the influence to the friction/wearing characteristics. Used lubricating oil, MoS2lithium base fat, vegetable oil, graphite calcium base fat four kind of lubricant in the test,and analyze the lubricating performances of the four lubricants through the friction coefficient, hardness, wear loss, grinding mark width, grinding mark depth and grinding spot morphology.Several conclusions from the research paper:(1) Comparing with the wheel/rail friction pair in the dry condition, four kinds of lubricants could decrease the coefficient of the specimens. In the four kind of lubricant, the friction pair of which the use of lubrication oil friction coefficient is the largest, use MoS2lithium base fat the friction pair of which the use of MoS2lithium base fat friction coefficient is smaller of the friction pair of which use lubrication oil friction coefficient, friction pair of which the use of vegetable oil the friction coefficient is smaller friction pair of which the use of MoS2lithium base fat friction coefficient, the friction pair of which the use of graphite calcium base fat friction coefficient is the youngest of four kind of lubricant. Graphite calcium base fat which is in four kinds of lubricant is the best effect.(2) After the experiment was over, the hardness of the contact surface of the wheel/rail specimens increased in different degree. Its hardness value for comparison:the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use lubrication oil on the hardness value is the largest, second is the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use vegetable oil on hardness value, and then is the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use MoS2lithium base fat on hardness value, the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use graphite calcium base fat on hardness value the smallest.(3) Comparing with the wheel/rail friction pair in the dry condition, lubricants could reduce the wear loss of the specimens, And in lubricant function, surface grinding mark depth and width will decrease. In the four kind of lubricant, the influence degree for comparison:the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use oil on grinding mark depth and width on the largest, the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use MoS2lithium base fat on grinding mark depth and width than the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use oil on is slightly small, and the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use vegetable oil on grinding mark depth and width than the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use MoS2lithium base fat on is slightly small, the surface of wheel/rail sample of which use graphite calcium base fat grinding mark depth and width are the smallest.
