The highway has played a very important role to promote nationaleconomic growth. However, overloading of vehicles is becoming increasinglyserious. This will affect vehicle order and damage to road and bridgeinfrastructures. Highway WIM system for moving vehicles is imposed onvehicles traveling through the sensor without interrupting traffic, direct orindirect measurement of the pressure of the road, through the establishment ofthe mathematical model or measured values with the relevant vehicle parameters,using certain algorithms to calculate the vehicle’s weight and related parameters.Therefore, the WIM system is designed with speed, accuracy will help the trafficauthorities to efficiently deal with the overload, implement of the weight feesand ensure traffic safety that play a significant role.In this paper, the processor which taking ARM7as the core part is selectedin this scheme according to the requirements of the weigh-in-motion system.Thestructure and function of hardware system is introduced respectively, and eachunit of the LPC2368processor of the date acquisition hardware system isdescribed in detail. Software of WIM system is designed based on ADS1.2Embedded Workbench by C and assembly program language. The porting of theμC/OS-II embeded real-time operating system has been realized, hardwaredrivers of data acquisition system, the establishment of multi-tasking operatingsystem, weighing algorithm program and main routine have been designed.The result of test proves that the system runs accurately and reliably, and thevalue is very extensive.
