The Inner Mongolia has a large number of coal resources, but the coal transportation capacity, transportation costs and environmental pollution have become the key factor restricting the development of coal industry in Inner Mongolia. Therefore, the development of efficient, economical, energy saving and environment-friendly coal means of transport which can significantly increase the coal transport capacity is a necessary condition to speed up energy construction and promote economic development in Inner Mongolia. In this case, the novel linear motor transportation system came into being. Converter system provide drive and power for vehicles, which is one of the most important devices of the novel linear motor transport system, so it has a direct impact to the pros and cons of the transport system. This thesis has an in-depth research on Converter system, and the work done including the following aspects:This thesis introduces the structure of the novel linear motor transport system and describes the function, design requirements and framework of the converter system played in the train. It details the external interface of the converter system, and uses novel linear motor line conditions of the transportation system for traction calculation. At last, the thesis gives the calculation results with graphics.The parameters of traction converter are given based on the result of the traction calculation, then the thesis researches the traction converter power circuit design, component selection, control system architecture and traction control strategy. It has a detailed study about calculation of the converter core device parameters according to the demand of the traction converter and a targeted design of the structure of the control system. It also has a detailed description of hardware and software protection. According to the edge effect of the linear motor, the indirect vector control strategy with dynamic compensation of the edge effect was proposed after analyzing the linear motor model. The rationality of the traction converter design was proved by simulation and experimental validation. The rationality of the traction converter design was proved through the simulation and experiment.According to characteristics between input and output of the auxiliary converter, this thesis analyzes that the common step-down circuit can not meet the requirement of the converter and compares two combination circuits by experiment. The test results show that the two step-down circuit in series has the phenomenon of signal interference and switch misleading, so half-bridge circuit in series was chosen as an auxiliary converter program. It also has a detailed description on parameters’calculation of the main circuit device. Auxiliary converter input voltage fluctuations, so the auxiliary converter output is keep stable by use of the dynamic PI control. For the existence of the phenomenon of impulse voltage for the start of the auxiliary converter, soft-start control strategy was proposed. Finally, it verifies the correctness of the control strategies and design through simulation and experiment.
