With the growth of the national economy, the improvement of social life, vehicle has gradually rise in city, road construction also will increase. For the convenience of travel, and improve the utilization rate of road, reduce traffic congestion, road construction is important for us. Through the research on traffic influence of work zones, but to analysis and evaluat such section, to help ease a series of problems.The paper focuses on traffic flow characteristics of work zones, and it was simulated with cellular automaton model, quantitative qualitative analysis traffic flow characteristics of work zones. This paper mainly work are as follows:(1) Firstly, comparison and analysis of the current situation at home and abroad of traffic flow characteristics of work zones, this paper puts forward problems, and confirm the framework; Then contrast micro-model of traffic flow, analysis the advantages and disadvantages of work zones, the choice cellular automata as this simulation model.(2) Secondly, qualitative analysis road features and traffic flow characteristics of work zones, describes behavior characteristic of vehicle lane changing and vehicle-following; And brief summaries of the basic principle of cellular automata, including the definition and the composition, characteristic and classification, the application of the traffic, provide theoretical support for the model.(3) Again, in the above theory, clear purpose of survey at first, design research plan, research section that it met the conditions, then with collection extract data of actual research, and quantitative analysis traffic flow characteristic of work zones that it through the original data, traffic flow characteristics of the same lane and the same area. The results of the study show that, different region, the different lane, different time of traffic flow characteristics different in work zones, congestion state caused by lane cut different.(4) Finally, based on the above the qualitative and quantitative analysis, define their parameters and rules choose NaSch model and traffic flow characteristics of work zeons, it considering the prompt to following-car through vehicle lights, establish model that it is similar to the actual sections,analyzes the operation results. The results showed that the shrinking of road will create a huge force lane changing phenomenon, and lane changing frequency is higher than generally. Extract simulation data, in comparison with real data, the results showed that in some extent the model is simulated the sections, but still have the error,we need to consider more of influence parameters.
