The ionization current could be used in combustion detecting and diagnosing, and the characteristic of this method is simple in structure and low price。 Study on the ionization can benefit a lot to academic research and practical engineering.A model for simulating the ionization current has been established and the corresponding software with MATLAB and Cantera for the model has been developed. An ionization current detecting system was built up, a data acquisition and data processing software system is developed with MATLAB and Lab VIEW. The ionization current has been acquired with the data acquisition software and the data has been processed and analyzed with wavelet transform using the processing software.Experimental results indicate that the model is suitable to describe the ionization current in the in-cylinder combustion process. Based on the experimental validation, the influence of parameters such as the excess air ratio up the ionization current is studied.
