ABSTRACT: Railway freight transport has advantages of large volume, low energy consumption, low pollution and high safety factor, so it plays a very important role in China’s transportation industry. However, with the development of other transportation modes, these advantages of railway freight transport are gradually weakening. We should improve the respects of saving time, energy consumption and safety to enhance its advantages. Now we focus on maximization of interests and the optimal interrelationships among the indicators of freight train running.Consider the existing research results, the paper studies the relationship between the factors of traction weight, speed, energy consumption and braking distance in the freight trains movement process, at the same time through the simulation of train operation in different weights and different speed, get the quantitative relationship between weight, speed, energy consumption, braking distance and other factors, and then eventually came to the optimization program between the factors by the analysis and calculation of simulation data. The paper covers the following aspects:(1) By summarizing the research results at home and abroad, the paper systematic study the relationship between the factors in the freight trains movement process, and then find the train weight, speed has significant impact on energy consumption and braking safety, the weight and speed have the relationship of mutual constraint, the focus of this article is the quantitative relationship between the various influencing.(2) The paper analysis the relationship between the weight and speed of freight trains movement process. Through the equation development and computer simulation describe the relationship. On constructing the flat line, the paper researches the relationship between the speed and weight of DF4and SS4in movement process. The study results revealed that the optimal scheme of the train DF4on a straight line without line limits is the train weight between4000and4500tons while the speed60km/h. The optimal scheme of the train SS4on a straight line without line limits is the train weight between6000and7000tons while the speed70km/h.(3) The results show that the unit consumption of different locomotives is different under the different weight and speed. Because diesel locomotive DF11and electric locomotive SS7has lower unit consumption, should increase such two locomotives reasonably. While the unit consumption of the same locomotive is quite different under the combinations of different weight and speed. For example, under the condition of4000t traction weight and55km/h target speed, the unit consumption of DF4is low, while, under the condition of3500t traction weight and60km/h target speed, the unit consumption is also low.(4) From the point of safe movement, the paper analysis the influence between train braking distanced and the train weight, speed, line’s slope, train’s speed limits and restrictions contained in conditions of different line ramp. The results show that the train emergency braking distance grows with traction weight growth linearly and grows with growth of the initial braking speed quadratic; the influence of the initial braking speed on braking distance is larger than the traction weight.
