The electric vehicle is considered that it is the most effective method in the future to alleviate the vehicle energy shortage and environmental pollution. Pure electric vehicles will be the direction of future development of electric vehicles. With the continuous development of pure electric vehicle, people pay more and more attention to pure electric vehicles by wheel motor drive.In this article, a pure electric car by four wheel motors drive is researched, the vehicle controller of it is designed and developmented. Three structural features of pure electric vehicles are summaried and analysised, the structural scheme which is wheel-motor drive is determined. The type and function of the input and output signals of the vehicle controller are analyzed and summaried, put forward the technical requirements of the vehicle controller design. The function of the vehicle controller is defined, the design of the vehicle controller is determined. Analysis and describes the pure electric vehicle driving conditions, establishes control strategy of each condition. Matlab/Simulink tools are used to establishe differential model for the experimental prototype vehicle. Simulation is used to verify the feasibility of differential algorithm. Around the vehicle controller chip MC9S12XDP512, considered the electromagnetic compatibility and anti-jamming capability of the hardware circuit, the vehicle controller hardware is designed through Prot199SE Software. The main control flow and architecture of the controller software has been designed by hierarchical and modular design concept. And the various functional modules of the vehicle controller program are completed. Used hardware and software combination, the vehicle controller circuit module are tested and debugged. All input signals of pure electric vehicle controller are analog by signal generator, the DC power supply and plus components on the circuit board. Used this method, the software of vehicle controller is debugged. The vehicle controller test platform is established, and pilot programs and test methods for vehicle controller are designed. By experiments, it is proved that the vehicle controller can achieve the basic cruise control feature in no-load case of pure electric vehicles.
