The metro is an important civil defence fortification as well as a modern urban transportation. Being an underground construction, the surrounding soil restrains its from being deformed and displaced, which in turn gives it good seismic resistance, but the1995Great Hanshin Earthquake indicated that a strong enough earthquake could also heavily damage the underground construction. Therefore, a further study on the seismic resistance of underground constructions is a must. The paper mainly studies the disciplines of metro stations’ seismic resistance during the earthquake, and the details are as follows:1. Give an introduction to the background and meaning for the subject selection. Have a commentary on the domestic and international current situation in the field and key issues that need to be solved, and then offer a technical route and work arrangement for the study.2. Study on the building and loading modes of the aseismic model of underground constructions, and select a building and loading mode for the subsequent calculations.3. Take the seismic damage of Dakai Metro Station in Japan as a model and study the damage mechanism of it and find out the weak parts of underground constructions when earthquake happens. Then, propose a general method to evaluate underground constructions’ seismic performance. According to the results, the horizontal seismic wave is the primary cause for the structure seismic damage, and the occurrence of plastic hinges at the corner a key factor for the destroy of Dakai Station.4. By researching the destruction of weak aseismic parts in different buried depths, height-width ratios, lining thickness, and surrounding rock elastic moduli, a series of general rules of seismic resistance are obtained, which also provide a reference to the engineering of underground constructions.5. Summarize the study results and predict the issues that need to be solved in the future.
