XLPE power cables has played an increasingly important role in the power supply and industrial production, and it’s also important in aging fault detection. In this article, the advantages of the power cable and the basic failure of the power cable will be discoursed. It analyze the importance of on-line monitoring, introduces the sorts of power cable and typical fault, discusses technique level and its developing trend of on—line monitoring system. And talk about the XLPE cable at home and abroad on-line monitoring technology status and development trends.This paper get analyses and statistic on the reasons and location of power cable faults, and set forth appropriate to keep away measure. And then introduce the DC component method in detail and compare with off-line monitoring method. The third part of this paper complete the design of the system hardware and software, which is based on the PLC hardware platform design, and software is designed by PLC_config. Through a combination of hardware and software to complete the monitoring unit of the overall structure, and computer background to carry out effective data communications, data collected for statistical signal processing, power cable insulation aging derived information to the framework of an automatic monitoring and diagnosing system.On the basis of the mechanism of water tree, the principle of the DC component method the monitoring cable, diagnostic methods of DC current signal between the measurement of the earth and the cable insulation. Data sampling from a variety of filtering methods selected then the PLC signal conversion transmission and based on MCGS HMI to achieve the completion of the entire system. XLPE cables to achieve a safe, accurate, real-time to detect hidden dangers and failure to provide a substantial theoretical basis and implementation.
