Thin-wall shells are widely used in the field of aviation and aerospace. It has characters of large scale, light weight, low stiffness and easy deformation. The inner wall is usually equipped with a large number of assembly parts, and it requires a strict assembly accuracy of the thin-walled shell and assembly parts. The traditional hand-painted location line is of inefficiency and low accuracy. To solve this problem, the location identification printing system for the thin-walled shell is developed. The location identification printing system prints the location identification line on the shell surface automatically, according to the assembly location requirement of the design drawings.The overall structure of the location identification printing system is studied. The system is composed of Sinumerik840D and5axis planer type machine. VJ1710Ink-jet printer is used as the printing tool whose start and stop as well as speed is controlled by PLC.Anti-collision fixture for the printer is designed, the fixture is used to connect the inkjet printer and the machine, he fixture is composed of two parts which is connected by magnet. When collision happens, the fixture is separated and the machine has an emergency stop to avoid the damage of the parts and the machine.The trajectory planning and printing program generating are studied. The assembly location line is calculated according to the design drawings and jet trajectory is generated. In the generation of NC code, the printing trajectory and the printer control are combined by the synchronized action programming which is provided by Sinumerik840D.The HMI software of the printing system is developed. It is developed by the secondary development of HMI programming package, and NC code generation, graphical simulation and NC program executing are added in the HMI.
