In the Steel-Concrete composite structures, two different materials make a series of advantages. The concrete filled steel tube (CFST) is one of the classic representatives of the composite structures, it has been a hot research for many years, and it obtains fast development in many countries, current research on CFST has formed a comparatively perfect theory system. With the increase of the building height and span, the load carried by the columns is becoming larger and larger; and with the continuous improvement of seismic performance of people’s building requirements, building columns have become the focus of building structural design. CFST columns have high bearing capacity and ductility, therefore it has a very good seismic performance. Many practical engineering fields need this kind of high performance columns, CFST columns have been common used in various practical projects, and many engineering problems have been solved very well, also CFST columns play a very important role. The author of this paper carried out a analysis and summary of CFST columns on the basis of previous theoretical and experimental research. The main contents are as follows:(1) Make a comprehensive evaluation to the study of history, current status, application status of a variety of derived CFST columns. In particular, Make a introduction to their unique properties (compared with ordinary CFST column).(2) Make a comprehensive interpretation of the CFST columns. And introduce three theoretical systems of CFST. Summarize more of domestic and foreign specification cross section calculation method.Analyze the results of their calculation.(3) Introduce the application of finite element software-ABAQUS in the terms of CFST. Especially, sum up the constitutive relationship, element department and other important parameters of finite element calculations(4) Use the ABAQUS software to establish a model, and analyze the model by setting appropriate parameters. At last, we can obtain satisfactory results.
