| With people’s living standards constantly rising, the tourism industry especially coastal tourism is rapidly developing. The coastal areas and islands in recent years have a reception of visitors increasing by20%to30%per year, while the bathing beach is the first attraction. However, there is very few of good natural beach. In order to attract more tourists from all over the country, many places started planning to establish a man-made beach, and therefore need to know the characteristics of the beach profiles. Accordingly, the study on the equilibrium of man-made beach profiles has a good actual value and a very important theoretical guiding significance for maintaining the natural sand beach and the planning man-made beach projects. This paper reviews some researches on equilibrium beach profiles. Combining with man-made beach projects in Zhangzi Island, there is a study on the stability of the equilibrium profiles. Analyzing and comparing two alternatives by physical cross-section experiments, identify a more stable alternative and provide a design basis for man-made beach projects in Zhangzi Island. At the same time, combining with the Bruun model, Bodge model, Lee model and Inman two-part model, simulate and compare the power function, exponential function and logarithmic function of the two-part model. This is a study on equilibrium beach profiles of shape models aiming at finding a relatively good shape model applying for the actual engineering. In addition, there is a preliminary establishment of the empirical formula for calculating parameters of geometric characteristics of the equilibrium profiles. This work identifies a more stable alternative under specific beach situation, and finds a relatively good shape model under the different water level and waves. Additionally, there is a extended study on the geometric characteristics of the equilibrium beach profiles. The research results provide a design basis for Zhangzi Island man-made beach projects and a technical reference for the planning man-made beach projects to choice a suitable beach slope and sand particle size. |
