When the running speed of freight wagon increases, electronic anti-skid devices should be installed to ensure safety. For the use of the electronic anti-skid device, a suitable power source must be provided. For a long time, the solution to generate or store electrical energy on the freight wagon is the main problem to be solved. As long as the freight wagon runs, there will be enough wind power around. A device called wind-powered device can make good use of the wind power and generate electrical energy. The wind-powered device consists of mechanical and electrical systems. And the electrical system is critical to determine the form and quality of the electricity output.Based on the working principle of the electrical system of the wind-powered device, the hardware and software have been designed, and the physical production completed. The electrical system includes a power conversion circuit which is implemented by hardware circuits and a control system whose core is the PIC16F887microcontroller. The former can convert the unstable three-phase alternating current output of the generator into constant direct voltage, which will be used by the anti-skid device and the lead-acid battery. The latter mainly controls the three-stage charging process of the lead-acid battery and protects the electrical system.In the laboratory, a test platform is established in which the rotor speed of the generator is controlled. After connecting the generator and the electrical system, the performance of the electrical system under different input voltages is studied.Finally, a simulation model of the wind-powered device including the mechanical system is established in the Simulink, in which the wind turbine is instead by a Brushless DC motor. By controlling the input torque of the generator, a simulation study on the electrical system performance under different input power is realized.Test results and simulation results show that when the input voltage or input power changes, the electrical system of the wind-powered device can always work normally, and the output direct voltage can meet the operating voltage requirements of the electronic antiskid device whose rated operational voltage is24VDC.
