With the rapid development of the railway in China, the demand for railway transportation has constantly improved; the capacity of the railway increasingly becomes strained. How to tap the potential and increase the benefit of the railway capacity, and optimize the allocation of the railway capacity resources on the premise of safety has become an important subject in front of us. As the computer simulation technology can be done with the computer repeatedly and is characteristic of money saving, none risk, repeatability and other advantages, therefore, it is an effective and efficient tool to study the running of the train. This paper use the computer simulation method, combined with MapInfo technology to the thesis makes research into the train operation.Train operation simulation system is a simulation platform which based on the entire railway nets. In this system, the basic geographic information of the railway stations and the sections is integrated by the MapInfo technology, and a realistic train operation simulation scene is built to simulate the dynamic and microcosmic process of train group under the entire railway network, including the true reflection of the train running conditions, location information and the status of the related signal devices.By simulation, the process of the train’s running can be observed and some problems will be found. Moreover, it is possible to determine whether all the types of safety conditions, various parameters and constraints in the train diagram are reasonable, to test the safety of the work arrangement in the railway stations and sections, and to certify the feasibility of the train schedule.It can supports the assistant decision-making for the railway design&the operational management department and optimizing train operation plans so as to improve the quality of railway operation and management from the point of view of the security.This paper has studied deeply about train operations simulation in our country on the basis of full analysis of the advanced experience and good scientific research results China and abroad. It begins with the study of the key technologies in which the application status and benefits of the computer simulation based on MapInfo technology in the field of railway transportation have been analyzed, and the specific operating arrangement and the signal interlocking are studied in both stations and the sections. At the same time, a signal particle model is established based on the theory of the traction calculation. Then, the requirement analysis has been done from the point of view of the system goals, functionality, performance, database and operating environment.Subsequently, the paper designs the system from the aspect of overall and detail. The goals and the overall framework structure of the system are proposed. The various functional modules of the system and its structure are classified and described. Furthermore, the hardware and configuration of system are illustrated, and the database and MapInfo spatial data tables are also designed.On this basis, the widely suitable train operation simulation system in the railway station has been developed and realized with Microsoft Visual C++, combined with MapInfo and MapX. The system which can generate the map for the simulation, simulate the signal interlocking and train group simulation based on arbitrary stations and sections have the functions of analysis, evaluation and output of the simulation results.Finally, the paper summarizes the work which has done in the paper and points out the problems should be solved in next work.
