As the continuous advance of urbanization process and the rapid increase in number ofvehicles, urban traffic congestion has exacerbated and traffic accidents have increased. Thus,traffic has become an important factor in restricting the economic development. How to fullytap the potential service capacity of urban traffic network in limited road resources is theproblem to be solved urgently. This can not only alleviate the existing contradictions in a shortterm, but also adapt and guide passenger traffic demand from a long-term point of view.With the feature of Less resource per capita in road space and lower energy consumptionand pollution, the public transport system has become the top priority of the sustainabledevelopment of urban transport, which has become an important way to achieve resourceconservation, construct environmental-friendly urban city, and relieve traffic congestion. So,it must be given priority to development. Exactly in such demand, bus rapid transit (BRT) cameinto being, which both to maintain the flexibility, economy and convenience of conventionalbus, but also has characteristics of urban rail transit. It has become one of the importantstrategic initiatives to improve traffic conditions in the modern city. While the big trafficdemand and limited local financial resources in China, more in line with the conditions of BRTdevelopment.This paper mainly study on intersection optimization design and signal priority control forBus Rapid Transit, relying on transportation construction technology project "Study on keytechnologies of planning, control and operation of bus rapid transit (BRT)" and Jilin Universityresearch project " Research on scheduling and priority control technology of intelligent publictransport based on RFID".First, introduces the background of the research and point out the research goal and thepurport of this dissertation, puts forward the routes and main content of the study.Intersection design will have a direct impact on the overall implementation effect of signalpriority control. Therefore, basis on the assessment of intersection, given the method ofcalculating signal delays and put forward an intersection optimization method of restrictingvehicle turning. Finally, conduct a detailed study on turning and bus stop location design.Then, research the operating principle of RFID-based BRT detection system; build the system structure; put forward information flow, and design the logic functions and softwarefunctions for the system.Research signal priority control scheme of BRT: Propose signal priority control algorithmand take data simulation to verify the effective of models.Finally, conclusions and recommendations for future research of this dissertation are providesin this chapter.
