With the development of automobile industrial, the safety and energy-efficientare becoming two key factors for a car. The ultra-high-stress steel could not onlyimprove the safety, but also could reduce the fuel consumption by weight reduction. As an example of ultra-high-stress steel, the22mnB5has been used in automobileindustrial. In this paper, the studies focus on the influence of microstructure andmechanical properties by electropulsing. In this study, the results show that theengineering stress of22MnB5steel could be up to2046MPa and meanwhile could bewith strain of13.3%after electropulsing with the optimal parameter. Compared withthe hot stamping, the stress and strain increased to38.7%and17.6%respectively.The results show that with the electropulsing duration extending and more energyinputting to the materials, the stress of22MnB5could be improved. However, thestress will decrease if the electropulsing duration is too long. Improving the currentdensity and accelerating the cooling velocity will contribute to the grain refinement, and thus will enhance the overall mechanical property. In the theory study proves thatthe electropulsing could be beneficial to the nucleation rate of austenite and thenrefine the grain. In the ANSYS simulation study, the temperature fields and stressfields was studied. The results match the real research very well and provide a way tostudy and analysis the electropulsing.
