Grader is a construction machinery used to shape and level land, it is widely used ininfrastructure construction. In engineering operation, the cooling system in engine cabinoften occurs overheat problem, while the airside fluid in engine cabin is one of key factorsaffecting the performance of cooling system. The complexity of the engine cabin structuredetermines that it is very difficult to analysis the airside flow in engine cabin by test means. This paper using CFD method analysis the airside flow in engine cabin to improve the flowcondition in engine cabin and the performance of cooling system, which is significant forgrader thermal management.First, established a simplified model of engine cabin, apply the method of combinedstructured and unstructured grid to mesh the airside space of engine cabin. And fitted themodel parameter equations of radiator modules based on the experimental data and empiricalformula to obtain the simulation parameters.Second, simulated the airside flow in engine cabin. Detail analyzed the velocity field, pressure field in engine cabin, the flow distribution of the channel and the characteristics ofradiators when the grader in working condition. At the same time, research the effect ofdifficult fan speed and grader speed on cooling system performance, find out the reasons thatcause the cooling system overheat when the grader in working condition. Finally, according to the analysis results proposed two optimization methods in enginecabin. The first method is improve the layout and location of air-inlet, simulation andanalysis the effect on the performance of the cooling system, and find out optimal layout andlocation of air-inlet. The second method is add the baffle in the engine cabin to eliminate thecyclic heating phenomenon. The results show that the optimization model improved theairside flow conditions in engine cabin. In the same operating conditions of grader, theoptimization model increases the air flow though the radiators, which advance theperformance of the cooling system.
