Geothermal resources are a kind of clean energy, and its development and utilization own important value. Ningbo is a famous tourist area, and its resource consumption is very large. In pursuit of sustainable development, as a kind of clean energy for environmental protection, geothermal resources are very important today. So it is very necessary to study the geothermal resources and make evaluation and analysis for meeting the demand of local economy.In this paper, the research area is Ningbo eastern part, most of which is covered by the Jurassic rhyolite and tuff. There have done very little geothermal exploration work previously, so it belongs to geothermal blind area. The success of geothermal well drilling in Ningbo Dongqian Lake and Jiulong Lake make geothermal development possible in such volcanic rock region. This paper integrates geological structure of Ningbo volcanic rocks, regional geological background and geothermal deep well drilling data, and complete the following work:1. From cap rock, channel, reservoir, supply and heat source four aspects, we analyze geothermal geology condition, and show this area has the potential of geothermal. The geothermal type is deep-circulation along fault in uplift area, so fault plays a decisive role in this area.2. By the example of successes geothermal exploration in Dongqian and Zhenhai district, this paper analyzes application effect of different geophysical survey methods.3. Combining existing water chemical data of geothermal wells, hot springs and surface waters in this region, by application of geothermometers and of water chemical type methods, we can analyze hydrogeochemical characteristics for geothermal resources to provide geochemical indication.4. Evaluate the geothermal resources in study area, including heat, water quality, water use and geothermal development prospects assessment. It provides a basis for reasonable utilization of geothermal.We can get a conclusion from this paper: Although study area is covered by Jurassic volcanic rock about3000m thickness, the condition of geothermal development is still exist. Zhenhai-shenzhen fault and NNW trending fault as thermal water channel. The geothermal is deep-circulation along fault in uplift area. Geothermal water originates from precipitation, and without relationship from volcanic rock. The geothermal is low temperature and it belongs to small geothermal field.
