In recent years, as the development of the information society, the problems of the transient power quality exposed new problems, which attracted more and more attention. Along with the development and application of the high-technology, the hazards of the transient power quality has become increasingly prominent. Short-term voltage sag and short-term voltage interruption, directly cause un-normal system running of electrical equipment; power system transient faults, such as transient oscillation and transient impact, easily cause equipments to lose their insulation. Harnessing of transient power quality problems becomes a pressing matter of the moment, and the harnessing of transient power quality is the root of its detection and identification.Transient power quality disturbance is difficult to analyze and detect, because of its large randomness, short duration and other characteristics. This paper discusses that the wavelet transform method is adopted to detect and classify the transient power quality, because of its time-frequency character. The author did some studies and probes into the signal denoising, disturbance starting-time positioning and fault tracing based power quality information nets, and Matlab environment shows that the proposed approach is valid and effective. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that application of wavelet transform of transient power quality disturbance detection and location, has accurate, real-time, easy to implement, etc., it is an ideal of transient power quality disturbance detection and localization.
