The statistics of aviation accidents and incidents showed that aircrew and bad weatherwere two main factors that affect aviation safety, and these two factors did not cause accidentsand incidents independently. However, present researches in this area are not sufficient. Thisstudy attempts to analyze flight violation in marginal weather conditions based on the theoryof planned behavior, then probes into the affecting factors of flight violation. Further, takemeasures to rectify them. It’s important and useful to enhance the level of aviation safety forour country. This paper is a survey investigating of flight violation in marginal weather conditionsbased on the theory of planned behavior. A sample of 273 flight instructor, the captain, co-pilotand flight students completed a questionnaire based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB),which measured people’s intentions to flight violation in marginal weather conditions, alongwith their attitudes towards the behavior, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, riskperception. The regression analysis models showed that the TPB was able to explain 52% and65% variance of the flight violation intention in marginal weather conditions, respectively, with behavior attitude and subjective norms emerging as the strongest predictors. In addition, adding risk perception can increase about 4% explained variance in flight violation intentionin marginal weather conditions, as well as with risk perception emerging as a strong predictor. On one hand, the paper analyzed factors influencing flight violation in marginal weatherconditions intention, established the model of flight violation in marginal weather conditions based ontheory of planned behavior, as well as putting suggesting for rectifying flight violation. On the otherone, as the first one to use theory of planned behavior to research flight violation in marginal weather, thepaper tries to provide a new research methods and viewpoints to the future researches. |
