Frozen soil because of the complexity of its composition, coupled with changes in temperature throughout the year there is a shape phase transition process of freezing and thawing in its body. So it has a very complex thermal physical characteristics, mechanical properties and engineering properties. It also makes frozen soil engineering construction in permafrost areas until now is a worldwide problem. In the initial stage of frozen soil engineering research, because of the lack of understanding of permafrost research, resulting in huge losses. After more than a century of systematic study of frozen soil, people know about frozen soil already quite profound research. Although not completely solve the problem, but has been working to find a more practical and effective and inexpensive solution, and has achieved remarkable results. This paper selects the main diseases of the permafrost regions highway construction and maintenance to study and discuss the physical properties of frozen soil engineering. Its main contents, methods, conclusion and outlook is as follows:(1) First points out the frozen soil the engineering physical properties, analyzes the type of highway roadbed disease, the causes and the possible development trend.(2) Using ANSYS/Thermal to simulate the temperature field of roadbed, through the observation a freeze-thaw cycle subgrade the duration of weak structure within the scope of influence, size, and position change, to analyze the thermal stability of roadbed. And consider embankment height this important factors on temperature distribution of roadbed influence, has an important guiding and reference to determine the embankment height.(3) This article through the simplified model of load, select the three typical pavement structure under different thawing conditions analyzed. For us in design of road surface in permafrost regions has important reference value.(4) Select the three typical asphalt pavement structure in different frost heaving and thawunder the condition of the stress and displacement is compared, and analyzes the structure of different pavement frost heaving and thaw deformation of the response, in the permafrost area highway pavement design to have the certain reference value.
