Chinese Train Control System Level3(CTCS-3) is a complex real-time distributed system. As the harsh field conditions, many functional tests of the system cannot be tested on the spot, especially for those tests which are about safety and functional tests that on abnormal conditions, So we need the help of simulation platform to research function test methods. As a latest standard of DIS, High Level Architecture (HLA) has an excellent function in promoting interoperation between simulation system, enhancing the reuse-abilities of simulation system and its components. So the system is simulated by using HLA. This paper combines HLA with UML to study Multi-train simulation system, which is a subsystem of the CTCS-3Train Control Simulation System.In the beginning, this paper builds HLA federal members’scene library and the analysis modeling using the method of UML-HLA. The analysis is built from the use case modeling, activity modeling, structural modeling, interaction modeling, and state modeling based on the whole structure of Multi-train simulation system. At the design stage, we adopt component technology, combine object-oriented architecture with layered system structure, and build component architecture of multi-train simulation system. Through the detailed design of the infrastructure components and the domain components, we get the design modeling finally. Based on designed classes and the object model development tools, simulation object models are completed. At the last stage of the paper, according to the scene data from federal members’scene library and federal scene library, functional testing and validation of multi-train simulation system is done.Multi-train simulation system integrates most of the functions of the on-board equipment, which is a subsystem of CTCS-3train control system. With CTCS-3level simulation platform, through a large number of simulation scenarios, the functions of on-board equipment are fully tested and verified.
