| The rapid urbanization and economical development in current China generatepeople’s demands for public life. To cater these demands, a large amount of publicbuildings, such as theaters, cinemas, conference center and so on, have been being builtin modern cities. One common feature of those buildings catches my notion: they are allacoustically highly required. However, the tradition method of acoustic calculation(usually, designers manually measure and design architectural acoustics based on theirexperiences and theories) cannot be abreast with the complex of modern architect.Inasmuch as that, a new method acoustical simulation technology has been developed. As one of the most important acoustics simulation technologies, ODEON isacoustic design software which has been launched by Technical University of Denmarkin1984. It is based on the virtual geometrical acoustics of the sound source method andhybrid method combining ray tracing and the second tone source method, working onthe computer simulation, and therefore, it is audible. It also includes industrial version, hall version, and integrated version. Within the architectural industry, it is consideredone of the most accurate acoustic software, and has been widely used. This paper intends to take several constructed building as example to compare thecalculated results of software and the measured data of real acoustic of these buildings.Based on the comparison, this paper will analyze the reason of discrepancy. Theultimate goal of this writing is to study the software: to use the method, especially in theestablishment of the thickness of the model parameters for the beginner as well assoftware to provide the right approach and preparation for the ODEON software toprovide reference. Article consists of the following components:Chapter one, it aims at introducing the background of the paper, putting up thepurpose and its significance, and sorting out the strategy and the idea of the research.Chapter two, it aims at describing the evaluation parameters of auditoriumacoustics design, and will introduces the overview of the development, function, andthe simulation principles of the ODEON software.Chapter three, it will describe in detail how the ODEON calculates and simulatesthe acoustic of small-scale rooms, such as studios. Then it will conclude the parametersetting of software simulation.Chapter four, it describes the simulation of ODEON to halls with seats and audiences. For example it will analyze the difference between simulation data andmeasured data in research objects, such as Conference Hall of Architecture school ofChongqing University, Multifunctional Hall of Chongqing University,201Classroomof Architecture school, and so on so forth.Chapter five, it describes how ODEON simulates the hemispherical room and therooms with arc structure.Chapter six, it will come up with conclusions. |
