In Northwest region of Inner Mongolia, studying the technology of roadconstruction is very significant because it is similar in the nature of climate, conditionsof building roads and character of transportation. In this paper, design of road subgradeand construction technologies will be studied systematically based on the constructionof freeway from Lin He to San Dao Ming Shui (border of Inner Mongolia and GansuProvince). Besides, this study will have great realistic significance on advancing thedevelop-the-west strategy. This paper could be applied to determine proper height of subgrade of high-gradehighways in different conditions in the region of Northwest of Inner Mongolia by theanalysis of subgrade height, functions, strength, stability and construction costs. In thispaper, substructure slopes of certain amount of constructed road will be analyzed in thesame condition with that in the Northwest region of Inner Mongolia. Also, therelationship of slope stability and subgrade height in the sandstorm district will beanalyzed and the results will be promoted to implemented in the processes ofdetermination of proper value of slope in Northwest Zone of Inner Mongolia. Inaddition, this paper will also provide a reference for the foundation treatment thicknessby analyzing the working area depth and the excavation depth in Northwest region ofInner Mongolia under considerations of pavement structure, axle load (overtaking),and soil subgrade modulus on embankment top with the help of BISAR.Furthermore, physical property and mechanical behavior will be studied byexternal experimental study and statistic analysis. This paper also analyzes thecompaction behavior of subgrade soil in this region by experiments of standardcompaction and vibration compression. And the results of analysis will be applied for compaction devices selection and compression methods. By establishing therelationship between Young’s Modulus and compression rate, the method of roombearing plate for determination of subgrade resilience modulus based on the principleof elastic layered theory will be modified. The modification coefficient will beobtained by the implementation of finite element program in order to establish therelationship between in-site resilience modulus and compression rate, which couldguide the construction.
