UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) which br ought the revolutiona ry influence on military thought is the product of the development of the modern warfare. As a lar ge number of military technology to civilian use,UAV technology is also playing a more and more important role in the modern life,so it is favored and valued by countries all over the world, with more and more countri es and enterprises taking part in the process of its research and developm ent.Navigation which is th e key technology of UAV plays an im portant role in the resear ch and comme rcial application, as it is essential in the pro cess of taking of f, flying and landin g, ensuring the safety of navigation.Therefore ,the study of navi gation technology is the key of the UA V research,this is the main research in the paper.Among the present navigation technologies , GPS navigation is widely used. So is inertial navigation which is not dependent on external information due to its mature development. Firstly, the paper gives a review of the theories and development history of the UA V ,then the paper analyzes the stucture of the GPS , its navigation and positioning theories, introduces th e position ing deviatio n.GPS navigation and positioning determines the longitude and latitude of the specific geographical location, by the electronic m ap in the integration of GPS navigation technology , latitude and longitude can be converted into the geographical names. The map matching algorithm can effectively improve the accuracy of GPS and map matching. Sometimes the single point GPS position ing can not rea ch the requ ired positio ning accura cy, so it is necessary to improve the GPS accuracy.Differential positioning method can improve the accuracy,but it must have the base st ation,which will increase the cost.Using the integrated navigation can also improve the accuracy ,GPS/Inertial navigation is generally u sed,it can m ake up the def icienies of GPS and inertal in tegrated navigation,so the good accuracy can have been improved.Simulating the accuracy positioning of GPS navigation and GPS/Inertial navigation of UAV by the MATLAB ,the results show that the accuracy can not reach the required accuracy of UAV only under the condition of the GPS navigation,but the accuracy of GPS/Inertial integ rated navigation is more high than GPS navigation , positioning deviation is sm aller. S o using the GPS/Inertial naviga tion which is based on the GPS navigation can improve positioning accuracy ,and ensure thesafer navigation.
