Environmental protection and conservation of energy is important part ofsustainable development, and one of the most important methods to improve fueleconomy and reduce exhaust is the lean burn. The application of the dual-spark plugignition system gives an important guarantee to achieving the lean burn. The crucialpart of the work process of ICE is cylinder combustion process, and it has closeconnection with the power performance, fuel consumption and emission performance.Testing and analysis of the dual spark plug ignition engine combustion process isfoundation to promote combustion performance and improve engine performance.In this paper, a motorcycle engine combustion test platform was built and how toinstall sensors of the internal combustion engine data acquisition system DEWE-2010on the internal combustion engine and conversion and processing of signals wereresearched. A dedicated connection of the crank angle sensor device according to thecharacteristics of the motorcycle engine to improve the reliability and security of thecrank angle signal test was developed. A simple theoretical analysis of the specificapplications of test data and the calculation of performance indicators were done.On the test combustion process experimental platform created,158FMI engine wastested using two single spark plug ignition and three dual-spark plug ignition schemerespectively. Experimental data were compared, and combustion process of the differentignition scheme was analyzed. The direction of the ignition advance angle adjustmentwas pointed out and new ignition schemes developed were validated. The analysisincludes cylinder pressure, the rate of pressure rise, instantaneous and cumulative heatrelease rate, point of the beginning and the end of burning, the maximum pressure andits corresponding crank angle position, the engine knock signal, the indication meaneffective pressure (IMEP) and pumping mean effective pressure (PMEP), therelationship between the beginning of combustion heat release and IMEP.On the basis of the structure of the183FMQ gasoline engine, the DSI combustionsystem was transformed. Through the experimental research on dual-spark plug sparksmild lean burn ignition characteristics, using dual spark plug multi-pointignition improve the probability of ignition in lean mixture conditions, accelerating theflame propagation and combustion reaction rate, reducing the combustion cyclicVariation, promoted the application of the dual spark plug in the motorcycle engine.
