Bimetal Silicone oil fan clutch, is one of the important components for theautomobile engine cooling system. As the complex conditions and road conditionswhere the automobile is running, it is required that the cooling fan speed can beauto-changed with the engine of the heating situation changes. This leads to highrequirement of the Silicone oil fan clutch performances, therefore, performance test is amust. However, there are many imperfections for the performance test of bimetalSilicone oil fan clutch: such as hand-operation while testing; only simple separating andclutching motion test can be accomplished; the test results are estimated in rough;operation multifarious and poor safety.A performance testing system for bimetal Silicone-oil fan clutch is developedbased on the technology of virtual instrument in this thesis. The hardware of the systemmainly consists of IPC(industrial personal computer), multi-function DAQ board, signaladapter plate and multi-channel sensors; while the software is developed based on theplatform of LabVIEW and aided with database technology. The whole test system,setting the developed software as the center, controls all the mechanical equipments atthe right working mode using the multi-function DAQ board and signal adapter plate; atthe same time, via second instrument and DAQ board, transfers the data from sensors tothe IPC,after processing, auto-calculates the performance parameters of the product forfan clutch, which can be displayed as graphs、reports and another forms. In the final,these effective parameters can be auto-saved into database, to the purpose of replay andstatistics.The main contents of this paper as follows:1) On the basis of analyzing on the topic of the current research and the researchgoal seriously, according to the test system of the specific object characteristics to betested, a feasible scheme of the whole system test is designed.2) Introduces the technical theory of test system, especially focuses on the virtualinstrument software development techniques which are closely related to this topic.3) According to the characteristics of the test object, the selection andconfiguration of hardware, such as sensors, multi-function acquisition card, etc. arecompleted.4) On the platform of LabVIEW, a complete set of test system software is developed. The system can realize these functions of hand-test, auto-test, data replay,statistic analysis, test reports.5) Putting the test system into filed installation and experiments.This system designed is a set of high performance test system, which integratingthe technologies of mechanical, electrical and computer. The system has been workingon the product inspection line for bimetal silicone-oil fan clutch in a company. Practiceproves that the system is of good performance and high efficiency, the testing result isof high precision, the testing process is of great safety.
