Environment-friendly Green Energy-saving building materials are wanted tofacilitate in recent years. Light steel structures for residential buildings are highlightedfor special attention. Investment literatures of steel structure for residential buildings areabundant. Research results show that energy dissipation and seismic capacity of thestructure are perfect, but the lateral resistant behavior is worse. Anti-side forcecomponents such as lateral bracings and lateral wallboards are usually used tostrengthen lateral resistant capacity of the structure. The building material of row-soilhas a long history in our country, which is commonly used in rural area. Using localmaterials, simple technology, environment-friendly, good heat and low cost arecharacteristics. The paper is based on Geographical features, customs and policy for "newcountryside" construction in the northwest rural area. The new residential systemconsidered economic, green energy saving and good seismic performance is made in thepaper, which is called the steel frame with row-soil wall infill.First, two models are built by the nonlinear finite element software ABAQUS, oneis a two layers steel frame of single-span with wall, the other is without wall. Stressperformance is studied under the monotonic displacement loading and low cyclicloading. Compare with the steel frame without wall from the Mises stress contour,load-displacement curves, in order to show that row-soil walls improve the bearingcapacity and stiffness of the structure. The deformation and failure characteristics ofstructures under cyclic loading are found. The hysteretic behaviors of steel frame with and without row-soil walls are achieved.Second, by analyzed the varying parameters of the finite element include thickness, constitutive relationship, friction coefficient between steel frame and row-soil wall, axial compression ratio of column to research influence of different parameters on stressperformance.Last, a rural residential example of steel frame with row-soil wall infill is analyzedby the finite element software. The theoretical basis is provided for practicalengineering design and research.
