Small UAVs are more widely used in various fields of social life now.The training of UAVground control personnels become more and more important.UAV simulation training platformprovides an interaction environment with the UAV system for the control personnels.Not only it canimprove the operator’s skills,but also reduce the number of UAV unnecessary flight costs.In thispaper,a pc-based simulation training platform was established based on the research to the accurateUAV flight dynamics model,by taking a small UAV as the object of study.The major work are asfollows:1) Aerodynamic characteristics of the small UAV was analysised.Aerodynamic calculations arethe basis of flight dynamics modeling.In this paper,the AVL software (based on vortex lattice method)was taken to calculate the basic aerodynamic characteristics of the small UAV.2) The small UAV’s nonlinear flight dynamics model was established.It includes:six degrees offreedom nonlinear equations,aerodynamic model, engine model,the atmosphere model,the earthmodel,geomagnetic models,and on the basis of non-linear model we get its linear model,also take atrim calculation,then make an analysis of the UAV’s flight dynamics characteristics.3) In this paper,a preliminary control law design for the small UAV was made, including designthe two-channel control laws of the UAV pitch and roll attitude to maintain.4) The establishment of the UAV simulation training platform. Through FlightGear FlightSimulator Interface,by adding flight joystick, virtual instruments, Googleearth track display and thenonlinear dynamic model of the UAV, initially a UAV simulation training platform was formed.
