Compared with the traditional brace, the Buckling-Restrained Brace (BRB) has someparticular advantages such as unlikely being buckling, stable dissipation capacity, goodanti-seismic behaviors and so forth. Currently, in the reinforced concrete frame, BRB is notused as widely as in steel structure, and the correlative technique is not very mature. However, concrete structures are widely used in China, along with the seismic active period, the reinforcement of the concrete constructions become extremely urgent. Therefore, applying BRB to the concrete structures shows very meaningful and practical.According to seismic design of our research group, based on theoretical and experimentalresearch in the world, one BRB concrete frames (BRBCF) is designed and built. Comparedwith the BRB designed by others, it is reinforced by different BRB patterns, and both ofthem have the same lateral stiffness. The frame is tesed under low cycle repetitiveloading. The results completely show the different between bolted connection and thewelding. And it prove that the BRB can increase earthquake resistant behavior of frameobservably and protect the major structure. The finite element analysis software named SAP2000is also used to create the relativemodel, which is used to simulate the tested structures’ anti-seismic and shock absorptionperformance. The results completely show that the interlayer displacement angle becomesmaller and interlaminar shear become bigger than the results of original framework.TheBRB is applicable in reinforcing concrete frame.Furthermore, the article is making the buckling and static analysis for the welded gussetplate by the finite element analysis software named ABAQUS. The results completely showthat the gusset plate connected with BRB by welding can also satisfy the request of seismicperformance.
