Combined with GIS (Geographic Information System) geographic information andrelated algorithms, GPS floating vehicle-based technology is able to determine thereal-time traffic information by collecting the distribution location information ofvehicles traveling in the network traffic flow. Compared with the traditional trafficdetection methods, GPS floating vehicle-based technology can collect the varioussections of the traffic information in a more flexible way with lower cost. It is a newdirection of development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and important part.In order to alleviate the growing traffic congestion problems and promote thedevelopment of intelligent transportation technologies, this article efforts to study theprinciple and the algorithm realization of the GPS floating vehicle-based technology,meanwhile, combined with a highway map on which related algorithms are developed,we established a high-speed real-time road traffic system. The paper completed thefollowing work:1. Systematically summarized and analyzed the background and development trendof the based on GPS equipped floating vehicle technology at home and abroad,elaborated the basic principles based on GPS equipped floating vehicle technology.Describes the pros and cons of GPS equipped floating vehicle technology and itsapplication development trends.2. According to GPS equipped floating vehicle technology theory, randomlyselected part data to analysis the vehicles which running on the highway, demonstratedthe feasibility of the highway traffic system which based on GPS equipped floatingvehicle technology, and explored the path of a matching algorithm and the judgment ofroad congestion algorithm. Basis on the algorithm theory, the author developed relatedprocedures, after the actual test, verified the feasibility of the theory and algorithms.3. Based on the real-time traffic needs analysis on the highway system, functionaldecomposition and conceptual design, we develop a highway real-time traffic systemsolutions based on the GPS floating vehicle technology. The program has fullyconsidered the relevant aspects of system performance, stability and economic.4. On the basis of the existing electronic map, we extract the associated layers, namely the highway portion of the relevant layers on which we national highway6-14levels of cut figure with map figure cut function of the figure software.5. Based on the GPS floating vehicle technology, a national highway traffic system(B/S system) is developed, which refresh the5minutes real-time record and realizethe traffic forecast function. At the same time, external secondary developmentinterface was provided in the convenience of other map developers for a secondarydevelopment.
