Landslide is a major multiple geographical disaster, it influence human survivaland development and has already become one of the three major calamities as well asearthquake and volcano. Landslide is not only a threat to people’s lives and property, but also a threat on the natural environment and resources. Thus, the study onlandslide disaster and research of how to reduce landslide disaster becomes animportant subject in the slope project. And reasonable landslide control measuresdepend on the correct evaluation and analysis of slope stability. The research of slopestability has important theoretical and practical meaning.Limit equilibrium methods have a dominant position in prevention engineeringof landslides. Landslide failure is a gradual process and soil mass doesn’t occurfailure at the same time by the sliding surface. Thus,we can get real response of thelandslide only if we consider the varting degress of play of each earth bar’s shearstrength when we analysis and calculate the stability of landslides. This article,on thebasis of summarizing history, proposes a new constitutive theory of soil and rock massand improves the unbalanced thrust method. This article uses Visual Basic to establisha program which has been used to calculate examples to verify its feasibility.Theresult has a small error with the reference answer. The improved unbalanced thrust method program has been used to analysis thestability of Huanxiangping sliding masses and Chenjialing landslide in every workingconditions and simulate the failure process of them from stable condition tounstable condition. The calculated result shows that Huanxiangping sliding masses isin stable condition in natural condition while its stability decreased significantly inearthquake condition. The results show that number1landslide of Chenjialing is inbasic stable under natural situation, stability decreased under rainfall and is in stableafter treatment. The stability of number2landslide of Chenjialing related with waterlever, under the condition of the water lever rise, the higher the water rise, the thelower the stability. Under the condition of completely saturated state, the stability islowest, the whole failure of landslide will happen. The study result shows that using improved unbalanced thrust method to analysisthe stability of landslides is feasible. It can make correct evaluation of stability oflandslides and offer reasonable basis for landslides’ govern work.
