With the development of science and technology, shield machine has been widely used in the construction of subway, underwater tunnel and underground pipeline projects, and great success has been achieved already, which has formed a series of design theory and principle of shield machine applicable to different stratums. Then in the process of construction, accidents resulting from irrational cutting tool layout always happened, which have a serious impact on the entire project duration, cost, quality, and even threatening human life. So it is of important strategic meaning to study the key technology of cutting tool layout design, in order to improve independent innovation capability, to reduce project cost and guide the construction of scientific.This paper firstly reviews the results of cutting tool layout theory and tool wear at home and abroad, from which the scientific problems have been found. Then around the problem of cutting tool layout about the shield tunneling machine, the research work of the following several respects has been mainly done in this paper:(1)Based on the D-H matrix, through the analysis of disc cutter’s and cutter’s movement process about the shield tunneling machine, the movement law of cutting-tool was concluded and the kinematic model of work cutter’s edge in tunneling process was established. which are beneficial for the research of the tool velocity and acceleration.(2)The relevant factors which have an impact on the tool wear and abrasion was revealed, including geological parameters, cutting tool(types, materials, structures), tunneling parameters, etc. the measures of improving the tool life were summed up from the design, construction and other areas. Finally, the amount of tool wear prediction model was established according to test data.(3)For earth pressure balance shield machine, based on the principle of the same life about tool wear, the number of tools were determined, it was predicted that whether tools needed to be replaced or how many times in the range of the shield tunnel excavation, and the tunneling distance under the attrition condition. The curve of the layout on cutterhead was optimized by using the Archimedes spiral.(4)Based on the cutting tool plane symmetry layout principle, the first knife’s three-dimensional arrangement method was established, and leading quantity was calculated.(5)The actual example calculation and the evaluation of cutting tool layout about Shenyang heavy machinery plant’s test-bed verify that the above cutting tool layout theory are rational and correct.Finally, some suggestions for further study are given in this thesis, which may be helpful in the development of shield tunnel method.
