Assessment Method For Spatial Pattern Of Coastal Zone Utilization

Coastline is not only the boundary between sea and land, but also an important ecological boundary and lifeline for marine economy sustained development. With the continuous of development, resources and environment condition has changed in coastal zone. It has restricted the sustainable development of society and economy. Human must save coastline resource.This paper chose Liaoning province as a case and divided the spatial pattern assessment of the coastal zone into two parts, it included coastline spatial pattern assessment and sea area reclamation spatial pattern assessment. Aimed to make out coastline spatial pattern and reclamation characteristics in Liaoning province. Series satellite remote sensing images obtained in1990and2010were employed to survey coastline and reclamation integrated field surveying. Some spatial index borrowed from landscape ecology to describe coastline and sea area reclamation spatial characteristics by geographical information system, individually. In the last, spatial pattern of coastline in the Liaoning province and spatial pattern of sea area reclamation in Liaodong gulf has been assessed. The result as follow:(1)remote sensing images integrated geographical information system are useful tools for spatial pattern of coastline surveying. Spatial index based on geographical information system suitable to assess spatial pattern of coastline.(2) In last20years, length of coastline in Liaoning province increased and its tortuosity ascend. The increment is30%in some regions, such as Jinzhou and Panjin. The common use type of coastline is fishing and port. Exploitation of coastline cause length of man made coastline(dams, bulwark, eg) grow up, while natural coastline, such as rock coastline, sandy coastline and muddy coastline compressed. The total exploitation extensity boast in last20years in Liaoning province.(3) Remote sensing images integrated geographical information system are useful tools for reclamation surveying. Spatial index based on geographical information system suitable to assess reclamation pattern.(4)The reclamation in Liaoning province show spatial cluster, its can divided into fishing pool and salt lake pool in Panjin and Jinzhou, coastal industry and town in Huludao, port and coastal industry in Yingkou and salt lake pool and fishing pool in Dalian.
