At present, steamflooding, which also has some deficiency, oil production accounted forthe most of the enhanced oil recovery. Steam channeling is caused by extremely unfavorablemobility ratio between steam and high viscosity crude oil. Steam channeling is a technicalproblem to be solved urgently. Steam channeling resulted in the low sweep efficiency. Parts ofthe reservoir would not be affected. Steamflooding development can’t achieve expected effect.Physical simulation is one of the three major means of enhancing oil recovery, playing animportant role in reservoir engineering. Based on the review of heavy oil classificationstandard and the experimental techniques progress of heavy oil development, focusing on theresearch status and development trend of steamflooding profile control, this paper selected anew profile control chemical agent. It can reduce the steam or water permeability, improveoil-water mobility ratio, and increase the steam sweep coefficient. Steam flooding physicalsimulation experiment is an effective mean to evaluate the effect of profile control chemicalagent. Steamflooding is a non-isothermal displacement process. Steamflooding simulationexperiment device can only carry out isothermal displacement experiment, but not nonisothermal displacement experiment.Through the study on steamflooding heat transfer, the calculation methods of heating oillayers were derived. Based on the original steamflooding simulation experiment device, thesteamflooding device achieved high temperature rapidly to low temperature over bycirculating cooling water, which can simulate the steam displacement front changes from hightemperature to low temperature in temperature field.Chemical agent changing core permeability experiments was carried out by sand packedmodel. Plugging rate was increased with the injection temperature and injection rate. Pluggingrate increased significantly with the injection amount from0.5PV to1.0PV at differenttemperatures. But increasing the injection amount further, plugging rate did not increasesignificantly. To ensure the profile control effect of chemical agents on the sand packed model,the injection amount could not be less than1PV and injection temperature could not be lowerthan220℃. Chemical crystallization plugging in the porous media is temporary. Chemicalcrystalline was dissolved in subsequent steam.Improve oil displacement efficiency experiments by chemical agent showed that, theapplication of temporary plugging chemical agent can obviously improve displacementefficiency. It can further increase the steam flooding efficiency by about10%, and the hotwater flooding displacement efficiency by about11%.
