Ozone treatment and grafting of PET film to achieve good activity which makes the reaction of electroless cooper plating takes place smoothly is the main purpose of the paper. This paper is made of three parts. The first part is the ozone treatment of PET film; the second part is the grafting and modification of PET film, which includes photografting and thermal grafting; the last part is the electroless cooper plating of ozone-treated and modified PET film.The ozone treatment of PET took place in the water. The effect of ozone gas flow, time and temperature on the performance of PET film was discussed.In the photografting reaction, arcylamide was selected as monomer; ceric ammonium nitrate was chosen as initiator, effect of concentration of monomer, initiator and reaction time on the grafting of PET was discussed.In the thermal grafting reaction, arcylamide was used as monomer; potassium peroxodisulfate was used as initiator. Effect of concentration of monomer, initiator, and temperature and reaction time on the grafting of PET was discussed.Compared the photografting reaction with thermal grafting reaction, a larger grafting degree can be achieved by the later, which was also proved by IR spectra, XRD and SEM.Compared the difference of photografted PET film with thermalgrafted PET film in electroless cooper plating, double-face and hole electroless cooper plating is easy for the later but hard for the former. Moreover, the later does well in the time of starting electroless cooper plating and the uniformity of cooper plating.In order to improve the quality of electroless cooper plating, the effect of potassium ferrocyanide, PEG-12000and2,2’-bipyridine on quality of electroless cooper plating was studied and the optimum value was4mg/L,60mg/L and15mg/L respectively. In the condition above, the electroless cooper plating was compact, small and pure with a good glossiness, adhesive, thickness and surface resistance were up to the mustard, being able to be applied to produce FCB.
