Two kinds of new water paint are prepared in the paper. The first one is acrylate micro gel emulsion coatings. This emulsion can be low-temperature film-formingand overcome the shortcomings that low-temperature film-forming is too soft. Thesecond one which was grafted by Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether (TMPDE) isUV-curing unsaturated polyester-urea amide coatings. The coatings own a certainstrength, non-toxic and environment, and can be degradation in some time. It can beused as packing film of fruits and vegetables.One kind of new micro gel emulsion was prepared by semi continuous seedemulsion polymerization with TMPDE as cross linker. Both reactive emulsifierSodium Dimer Acid (SDA) and Non-ionic emulsifier OP-10were as compoundemulsifier. The influence of dosage of TMPDE on the size distribution of micro gelemulsion and the coatings’ property were studied. Particle Size Analysis, SEM andFITR analysis was also applied to characterize micro gel emulsion. The results showthat an excellent micro gel emulsion can be obtained when the amount of TMPDE is5%, compound emulsifier3%and the initiator0.7%and the coatings that can below-temperature film-forming have high strength with unstuck smooth surface withgood comprehensive performance.Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether (TMPDE) was used to modify unsaturatedpolyester-urea amide which could be prepared by melting method. The structure ofpolymer was characterized by infrared spectrum. The relation between acid value ofresin before graft and curing speed has been discussed. The affect of urea and TMPDEto curing speed and degradation rate has also been discussed. The results showed theresin can be mixde by ammonia and water or triethanolamine and water. The resinalso needn’t any initiator and active diluents. The resin is a waterborne UV-curingpaint which can be cured in a short time and degradation in appropriate.
