Reactive dyes have been widely applied in the textile industry because of their features of bright color, excellent fastness, broad spectrum range, and applicability. The red reactive dyes are larger amounts of monochrome varieties and important complex components in the reactive dye system. However, many commercial red reactive dyes have low dyeing exhaustion and fixation, bad dyeing fastness. They do not meet commercial and technology request.H-acid series, J-acid series, γ-acid and2R-acid series are main intermediate for those red reactive dyes. The reactive dyes based on H-acid series now account for the most of the commercial red reactive dyes. Those red reactive dyes are usually red with blue hue. They are easy to be synthesized, and have low price. But they have low affinity, middle fixation rate, and are difficult to reach the crimson. Usually they have bad fastness to light. The substitution reactions of three chlorine atoms on cyanuric chloride are controlled by temperature and pH. In this paper, six red reactive dyes and two orange reactive dyes were designed and synthesized by substitution reaction. The chemical structures of those reactive dyes synthesized were characterized by IR spectrum. The relationship between the chemical structure and dyeing property of the reactive dyes was investigated by evaluating the four dyeing performance parameters(S,E,F,R). Dyeing properties of reactive dyes synthesized were discussed. Two red reactive dyes, which have high degrees of dyeing and fixation according to their intermiscibility and structural characters, were picked out, and then mixed with reactive brilliant red M-3BS. Two dye mixtures, named D-A and D-B, had been obtained. The results showed that dyeing exhaustion, fixing rate and Integ value of dye mixtures were higher that of reactive dye M-3BS. In terms of reactive orange dyes, the relationship between the structure and performance were preliminarily discussed. And all of these eight dyes synthesized have good rubbing fastness, wet fastness, and light fastness.
