This paper investigates the influences of the condition factors such as the fluid flow rate,gas flow rate, fluid viscosity of heterogeneous drilling fluid, external pressure and theresistance with water outlet pipeline on the separation efficiency of the former gas-liquidseparator on the original heterogeneous drilling fluid circular simulator. The relation betweendifferent gas-liquid separation condition and the gas-liquid separation efficiency was obtained.The results showed that the separation efficiency of the former gas-liquid separator was loweron a lower fluid flow rate or a higher gas flow rate.The improved gas-liquid separator was obtained by modifying the parts of separator asliquid inlet tube, cone, branch pipe and the structure of separator as the length of cylinder forenhancing the separation efficiency of the former gas-liquid separator. The separationefficiency of the former gas-liquid separator can reach75%when the fluid flow rate ofheterogeneous drilling fluid is0.98m3/h and the separation efficiency of the improvedgas-liquid separator can reach85%when the fluid flow rate of heterogeneous drilling fluid is0.94m3/h~0.98m3/h under the experimental condition by using water and base mud asexperimental medium, gas flow rate of500ml/min. The improved gas-liquid separator hashigher separation efficiency and widens the application scope of the gas-liquid separator.The new gas-liquid cylindrical cyclone separator was designed and applied in theheterogeneous drilling fluid circular simulator for enhancing the separation efficiency of theformer gas-liquid separator. This paper studies the influences of the fluid flow rate ofheterogeneous drilling fluid, gas flow rate and fluid viscosity on the separation efficiency ofthe new gas-liquid cylindrical cyclone separator. The separation efficiency of the newgas-liquid cylindrical cyclone separator can reach90%when the fluid flow rate ofheterogeneous drilling fluid is in the scope from0.78m3/h to0.98m3/h by using water and basemud as circular simulations medium, with the gas flow rate of500ml/min. The separationefficiency of the new gas-liquid cylindrical cyclone separator is better than the improvedgas-liquid separator and the former gas-liquid separator. The gas-liquid separation efficiencywas improved over10%and the simulator was made to be more perfect.
