There are three hundred thousand kilometers oil and gas pipeline in service in China, withthe industrialized production today, oil and gas pipeline as well as the blood vessels of thehuman body, has very important strategic position in the national economy.Because of oil andgas pipelines is underground a long time,it may subject to corrosion, causing thinning pipe walland wall damaged, affecting its normal use, even causing serious accidents. So check the oil andgas pipeline regularly, ensure the safety of the pipe production are particularly important. For the nondestructive testing for oil and gas pipelines, there are many inspectmethods, and the technological is very mature, the testing instruments is advanced. In recentyears,Domestic is also developing some pipeline detection instruments, but mainly byultrasonic testing and flux leakage testing.According to the current situation, the author putsforward a new method for nondestructive inspection of pipes,it is based on micro-variationresistance method. This paper introduces principle of the micro-variation resistance method for measuringthe metal pipelines corrosion,by comparing to ultrasonic testing and flux leakage testing, analyzes the advantages and of technique difficulties of micro-variation resistancemethod;By the finite element analysis tools to analysis the common pipeline corrosion, itverifies the feasibility of the micro-variation resistance method;Based on the principle of themicro-variation resistance method and specific operating conditions of undergroundpipelines, design the corrosion test system;finally, the scheme for several key techniques of thiscorrosion test system is designed.
