This paper based on the three kinds of modified polyester filaments developed by facultiesof BIFT as the main materials, pured or interlaced with cotton forming fabrics.The performancesof comfortability, shape-retention and the style of polyester fabrics are emphasized on theresearch.In the first place the structures of modified polyester fibers and their yarns are observed andanalyzed by using scanning electron microscope and optical microscope; then fabrics of differentweaves structures of pure modified polyester, modified polyester/cotton and cotton/modifiedpolyester are designed and weaved from two aspects, systematic and practicability. Theproperties of air permeability, moisture permeability, wick ability, dynamic water transfer,contact cold feeling, thermal conduction, static elimination, pilling of the woven fabrics andthe style are studied. Using mathematical fitting, gray analysis and other means, the influences ofthe modified polyester filament material, fabric structures on the properties of the fabrics wereexplored.The results show that modified polyester/cotton interweaves are thicker and heavier thanpure modified polyester fabrics with the same weaves and structure parameters, however, air-permeability are slightly better than that of pure modified polyester fabrics, wetting-out time arefaster than that of pure modified polyester fabrics, and antistatic property are superior to that ofpure modified polyester fabrics obviously; the wick ability of pure modified polyester fabrics arestronger than the ordinary polyester fabric and cotton fabric, and their antistatic performance isimproved remarkably; with the float increasing, the contact coldness of the fabric is weaken, thethermal conductivity of pure modified polyester fabric textured yarn decreases, and its heatpreservation rate increases; after friction of7000times, anti-pilling grades of modified polyester fabrics of most weaves are up to4level or higher; pure modified polyester fabrics are superior instiffness, husky and spongy to that of modified polyester/cotton fabrics, but their loftiness anddraping property are inferior to those of modified polyester/cotton fabrics. Gray analysis resultsshow that the moisture absorption and sweat releasing quick-dry comprehensive ability ofmodified polyester fabric1is inferior to modified polyester fabric2and3. Gray analysis andother performances indicators turn out that point lattices weave is an ideal structure as summercomfort fabric weaves.
